3 well-known international players who have never played an IPL match

IPL match

IPL has served as a platform for all cricketers which includes the rising stars and also the established legends. The Indian Premier League has been a hit amongst the fans because of its franchise-based format wherein eight city-based teams compete to win the title. Every player who plays cricket dreams of earning an IPL contract not only because of the money involved but also for the fame and exposure the league gives.

However, few did not get to feel what it is like to play the IPL in its 11 years. The franchises picked these players in the auction, but they never played a single IPL match. Here are the three big international players who have not played a single IPL game despite being picked in the squad.

#3 Brendan Taylor

Zimbabwean wicket-keeper batsman, Brendan Taylor became the most well-known player of his country with his performances in the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup. But before he became famous, he was a part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise in Indian Premier League 2014. Hyderabad picked the wicket-keeper in the auction, but the presence of Naman Ojha and Taylor being an overseas player meant that SRH always preferred Ojha first. Brendan warmed the bench the entire season before being released ahead of the 2015 season.

#2 Tamim Iqbal

Tamim Iqbal, the dashing Bangladeshi opener was a part of the now defunct Pune Warriors India squad in IPL 2012 and 2013. He never played a match for the Pune franchise but kept warming the bench in the dugout. Iqbal is still only 29 years old and given his superb form in international cricket; it is surprising that he has not made it to any Indian Premier League team except Pune Warriors India. Tamim has scored a century in T20Is, yet he was not snapped up by any franchise ahead of IPL 2019.

#1 Stuart Broad

Stuart Broad, the former England captain, is yet to make his debut in the Indian Premier League. The Preity Zinta owned Kings XI Punjab bought him in the 2011 season, but Broad did not turn up for them. Broad has never been a part of any other franchise in Indian Premier League. At 32, Broad is still actively playing for England, but it seems like he may never play a single Indian Premier League game in his career.

Thus, these were the 3 international players who never played in IPL despite being a part of an IPL franchise once.
