Vertigo Exercise That Will Change How You View the Condition

Are you looking for Vertigo Exercise? Don’t worry here we are sharing some physical exercises for vertigo. These vertigo exercises can be useful.

Vertigo is an uncomfortable condition that causes the patient to feel like they are spinning despite standing still. Some patients might even feel like the environment moves even when they are not. The condition can become overwhelming, often interfering with day-to-day activities. Still, with physical therapy for vertigo, patients can regain control over their lives and reduce the symptoms of their condition.

Physical Therapy Exercises

When talking about physical therapy in Boone at Appalachian State University for the treatment of vertigo, medical professionals are likely talking about peripheral vertigo stemming from benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. BPPV is a condition that causes the development of calcium carbonate crystals. The crystals travel to the inner ear’s semicircular canal, causing spinning feelings. With exercise, the condition symptoms can lessen.

#1. Brandt-Daroff Maneuver

The Brandt-Daroff exercise or maneuver attempts to dislodge crystals using gravity. To perform the exercise, sit on your bed with your feet flat on the floor in front of you. Angle your head 45° and position it over your right shoulder. Lie on your left side, maintaining your head position. Lie there for 30 seconds. Sit up, and repeat the exercise on the opposite side.

#2. Semont Maneuver

You should not perform the Semont maneuver on your own; it should be conducted under the supervision of a medical professional. Still, to do the maneuver, sit on the edge of a be, upright. Turn your head to the right 45°. Quickly drop to the left side, touching your head to the bed. Remain in that position for one minute. In one swift move, turn to the right side without moving the angle of your head. Hold the position for another minute.

#3. Epley Maneuver

While the original Epley maneuver requires the assistance of a healthcare provider, the home version is safe to do on your own. Again, sit on your bed. You want to place a pillow behind you and put your legs straight ahead of you. Turn your head to a 45° angle to the left. Swiftly lie back until your shoulders touch the pillow. Allow your dizziness to subside, and then wait an additional 30 seconds. Turn your head to the right 90° and hold it there for 30 seconds. Finally, turn your body to your right side, wait for the dizziness to end, plus 30 seconds. Sit up.

#4. Foster Maneuver

Unlike the other maneuvers, you do not need to be in bed for the Foster maneuver. With your hands on the floor, kneel. Look up by tilting your head backward. Then, tuck your chin and rest your forehead on the floor. Angle your head 45° until facing your left elbow. Hold this position for 30 seconds. Maintaining the angle, raise your head to be level with your shoulders and back. Hold for another 30 seconds. Sit back to an upright position.
